My Skin Diet
Beautology's philosophy is 'Age Later'. In order for your skin to age later we must add ingredients to your skin daily for healthy, balanced skin. As discussed, the importance of feeding your skin the correct vitamins, minerals and nutrients is paramount in preventing malnutrition of the skin which results in premature ageing and problematic skin including the formation of lines, wrinkles and brown spots.

1. Skincare

Cosmeceutical v Over the counter products

Why do we recommend Cosmeceuticals?
· Cosmeceuticals are active skincare which lies between a beauty cosmetic and a medicine.
· They have high quality pharmaceutical grade ingredients which are scientifically proven in playing a role in improving skin quality, tone, elasticity and maintaining an overall healthy appearance.
· These products offer impressive results in skin renewal and rejuvenation.
· Over the counter products only treat the upper layer of the skin and do not penetrate beyond the dead skin layer of the epidermis whereas Cosmeceuticals penetrate deep into the live tissue.
· With a combination of lifestyle changes and cosmeceutical skincare a slowing down of the ageing process can be achieved.

The 4 key steps that your cosmeceutical should offer are: cleanse, treat, moisturise and protect.

Cosmeceuticals will infuse your skin with active ingredients, producing dramatic effects. Some key ingredients are:

Alpha Beta Hydroxy Fruit Acids: Exfoliate dead skin, leaving it fresh, bright & luminous

Keeps pores clean.

Lightening Agents: Improves blemishes & overall skin colour, reduces pigment.

Anti-oxidants (enzymes / vitamins): Prevent damage to cells

Stem cells: Lengthen life of cells.

Peptides: Collagen boosters, building blocks of the skin.

Retinol (Vitamin A): Collagen building

SPF 30-35 A vital daily protection from the sun, as well as pollution, environment, chemicals and destructive free radicals

2. Supplements

Other vital ingredients can be introduced to your body as supplements to your diet. The key ingredients are:-

Vitamin A- also known as retinol, contributes to the maintenance of skin and has several important functions, such as: strengthening immunity against infections and keeping skin and the linings of some parts of the body, healthy.

Vitamin C- is a powerful anti-oxidant and has several important functions, including: helping to protect cells and keep them healthy and it is necessary for the maintenance of healthy connective tissue. It also contributes to collagen formation and maintains function of skin and blood vessels.

Vitamin E- is a natural antioxidant derived wholly from vegetable oils that works synergistically with other antioxidants to neutralise free radicals.

Selenium- is a trace element found in the soil. It plays a number of vital roles in our the body's enzyme function, and may help to stimulate the production of antibodies (disease-fighting organisms) after vaccination. It is also an antioxidant, working with other antioxidants such as vitamins C and E to protect the body's cells against free radicals..

Co-enzyme Q10- is a naturally occurring antioxidant that is present in all cells and highly concentrated in the energy-intensive cells of the heart. Often referred to as the 'biochemical spark plug' due to its essential role in the production of energy.

Seven Important habits we must do to maintain healthy skin

1. Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.
2. Eat a diet high in protein, low in carbs.
